29 March 2010
The
Redditch Arrows Youth Team will be competing in the BAFA
league for the coming season, their second fully kitted
season.
However it is with regret that I have to inform the
football community that following a team meeting this
morning a decision was taken to withdraw the Arrows
senior from league competition for 2010. The team will
register as an affiliate in 2010 with the intention of
returning to league competition in 2011.
As many people will be aware 2009 was a desperate year
for the Arrows following the success of 2008. From a
registered squad of 50 in April the team ended the year
with 18 players on the sideline for the final game
against Tamworth. With returning players and and effort
to recruit new faces it was hoped the team would be in
better shape for this year, unfortunately this was not
to be. The problems that decimated the squad in 2009
have had an impact on the teams ability to attract
players for 2010.
We are aware that Arrows players will want to play in
2010 and wish any well who look to sign for alternative
teams. We would, however, request that any players who
have Arrows team kit in the possession return it to the
club, Ed will be in contact with these players in the
near future.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused to our fellow
teams, but we could not field a team that could not
compete safely. Although we are aware that some teams
have competed with fewer players than we have, the
Arrows do not believe this would be healthy for the game
in this country.
Ed
Waddington.
