The Arrows gave their worst performance of the season in losing to a spirited Cheshire Romans side 12-6 on
Sunday. The Arrows struggled to maintain any kind of consistency during the game and the home Cheshire side ran out rightful winners to give them their second win of the season.
The Arrows going into the game on the back of a string of 3 excellent performances, took and early lead when the opening kickoff was
fumbled by Cheshire and recovered by the Arrows on the Chester 16 yard line. Capitalising on this, 2 plays later Dave Mills ran in from 8 yards for an early 6-0 lead. Chester, however
immediately responded and a good drive culminated in a 4 yard run to tie the game up at 6-6. Chester took the lead in the second quarter when another 13 yard rush gave them the 12-6
advantage. From this point defenses of both teams took over and prevented either team from making significant progress on offense.
The second half saw the Arrows start to gain some momentum. This was halted when a good 60 yard drive ended when
they came up short on 4th and inches on the Romans 20 yard line. Chester taking control of the ball made use of the game clock and put together some time consuming drives. The Arrows had one last chance to get back into the game with 1.30 minutes left, but bad field position , on their own 1 yard line meant that too much yardage had to be gained and with Cheshire putting in extra defensive backs to cover any aerial threat meant that the Arrows were unable to advance much beyond midfield.
On Offence, Dave Mills had 53 yards on 12 carries, Anthony Perkins 66 yards on 13, Toby Rhodes 22 on 3. Richard Wilde was 6 completions
from 17 attempts for 69 yards passing, Anthony Perkins had 35 yards receiving on 2 catches.
On Defense, Karl Watkins had 5 unassisted and 5 assisted tackles, Chris Cunnane had 4 and 6, Danny Lloyd had 4 & 4, Richard Frazer
had 4 & 3, Martin Hill had 3 & 3. Danny Lloyd also recorded a sack and a 25 yard interception.
