In scorching conditions, the Arrows gave
their best performance of the season and dominated the home Nottingham side to record an impressive 34-8 away win. Another excellent performance by the Arrows defense consistently gave the
hom team the ball inside their opponents half and which allowed the offense to run in 5 touchdowns against 1 conceded.
The game started with the Arrows opening the scoring in the first quarter when key runs from Dave Mills and a reception from Rob Mann set
up Anthony Perkins 8 yard run, A successful 2 point PAT caught by Steve Bell opened up a 8-0 lead. This was consolidated when in the second quarter Perkins again ran in from 14 yards for
14-0. This lead was reduced when Nottingham on their best drive of the day completed a 50 yard reception to Ian McCartney and a successful 2 point PAT put the home side back into the game and
the half time score.
The second half however was all Arrows, a 28 yard reception from Pete Morgan in the third quarter extended the lead to 22-8, and further
scores from Perkins on a 28 yard run, and Dave Mills on a 4 yard run completed the scoring.
Whilst Offense was the story of the game, this was only possible by yet another strong defensive performance. The Defense for all of the
game consistently halted Nottingham from making any real progress and put the Arrows offense into excellent field position throughout the match.
On Offense, Anthony Perkins ran for 107 yards on 14 carries with 3 touchdowns, Dave Mills 105 yard on 16 carries with one touchdown,
Rob Mann had 4 catches for 67 yards, and Pete Morgan had 2 receptions for 34 yards and a Touchdown. Arrows QB Richard Wilde had 6 completions out of 15 for 101 yards.
On Defense the outstanding performances were Chris Cunnane with 6 unassisted and 2 assisted tackles 1 sack, Martin Hill with 3 and 1 and a
sack, Richard Wilby with 2 & 2 and a fumble recovery, Richard Frazer with 1 & 2 and a sack.
Despite the excellent impressive performances detailed above this win was based on a team performance rather than individual performances.
