The Arrows lost heavily to close neighbours Birmingham Bulls last Sunday 40-0. The Arrows fielding another weakened team due to injuries and
non-appearances were no match for the far stronger Birmingham side who ran out comfortable winners.
The game started with the Bulls moving the ball based on a strong rushing game supplemented by their quarterback rolling out which caused the Arrows
defense a lot of problems and led to the Bulls first score on a 1 yard run. The Arrows failed to respond and the Bulls increased their lead in the second quarter on a 2 yd run and a 14-0 lead even though
most people watching felt that the play should have been called back for an offensive false start.
A further 12 yard run in the second quarter saw the Bulls go into the half with a comfortable 20-0 lead.
Any hopes that the Arrows had of making a comeback were wrecked on the first play of the third quarter when the Bulls kick off returner returned the
kick-off 70 yards for a 27-0 lead. Further scores on a 21 yard pass and a 60 yard interception return ran out the scoring for the visitors.
Despite the scoreline, credit has to be given to the Arrows small squad who fought all the way against far stronger opposition. It is disappointing
that the progress made in the previous game was lost due to injuries and the non-appearance of several key players.
