A depleted Arrows squad made the long journey to Glasgow last Sunday only to be well beaten the number 2 ranked team in
the country East Kilbride Pirates 35-6.
The Arrows fielding 10 rookies in a squad of 21 were no match for the powerful Scottish team in the first half which saw them go into the
half-time break 29-0 down. A powerful rushing attack saw the Pirates score 4 times on rushing plays to leave the arrows facing a mountain to climb in the second half.
The Arrows however responded by preventing the Pirates from scoring again until the last play of the third quarter. The Arrows then went to
the air in the fourth quarter and finally started to produce some excellent plays. This was capped when Arrows wide receiver Anthony Perkins tied up with Stuart Ennis for the play of the game
and a 55yard touchdown reception.
Despite the result, the second half performance as given the club great hope for the remainder of the campaign. On paper this game was
possibly the Arrows most difficult of the season considering the standard of the opposition and the long journey. The experience that has been gained by the clubs new players at playing at
the standard will stand them in good stead for the remainder of the season.
