In their final home game of the season the Arrows produced one of their better performances of the season but which unfortunately was
not good enough to defeat in-form Gateshead Senators.
The Senators arriving after a horrendous 7 hour journey had to come off the coach and immediately take the field. The Arrows failed to
capitalise on this when on their opening 2 possessions turned the ball over to their visitors on their own 30 and 3 yard lines. Gateshead were far too experienced to fail to take advantage of
this and quickly ran in 2 scores to give them a commanding early 16-0 lead.
Following this disastrous start the Arrows managed to get themselves into the game and following a 30 yard interception return from Arrows
Danny Lloyd pulled back a score on Dave Mills 5 yard run. A successful 2 point PAT pulled the Arrows to within 8 points at 16-8. The Arrows needed to hold out until the half, but Gateshead
foiled this plan when following a 42 yard run, the increased their lead to 22-8 on a 3 yard rush.
Gateshead put the game away in the third quarter when two 45 yard touchdown runs saw them open up a 38-8 lead. The Arrows
however showed their fighting spirit to pull back the deficit when a 74 yard kick-off return from Anthony Perkins ended with Dave Mills going in from 2 yards.
The Arrows further decreased the lead when Mills went in for his third touchdown of the game on 35 yard run for a 38-20 score.
Gateshead responded with a further TD before the Arrows produced the play of the game on the last play when Arrows QB Stuart Ennis
connected with Anthony Perkins for a 50 yard TD pass and a final 44-26 score.
