The Redditch Arrows completed a disappointing season on Sunday with a 30-6 defeat at Lancashire Wolverines. The Arrows who had been
relegated the previous week finished the season with a 0-9-1 record.
Despite taking a small squad to Lancashire, which had been weakened by several key players missing due to work commitments started the game
well and held the wolverines scoreless for the first half. The Wolverines had the chance to take the lead just before the half when they had first and goal from, the 8yard line but a spirited
Arrows defense held firm to keep the half scoreless.
The second half started in similar vein to the first with both defenses on top. This stalemate was broken in dramatic fashion in the last
minute of the 3rd quarter when the Wolverines went in from 4yards for the opening score. The Arrows problems deepened on the kick off when a mix up allowed the Wolverines to recover the
ball on the Arrows 5 yard line. The home team capitalised on this advantage and again went in for a 12-0 lead
The Arrows immediately responded on their next possession when Arrows QB Richard Wilde connected with Rob Mann for a 65 yard Touchdown pass
to reduce the lead to 12-6 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was all Wolverines as the Arrows small squad started to wilt in the hot weather and the difficult playing
conditions (they were playing on Astroturf) and the Wolverines pulled away and ran in 3 further scores for a final 30-6 result
