The Redditch Arrows made the long trip South on Sunday to take on the improving Plymouth Admirals. Despite the long
journey the Arrows made a sensational start when on the Admirals opening offensive play they forced the Plymouth QB to fumble the ball and leave the Arrows with a 1st and 10 on the 21 yard line. To rub salt into the wounds, Arrows Running back Anthony Perkins went in for the opening score on the very next play on a 21 yard rush for a 6-0 lead.
Despite this early start the Arrows could not maintain any real consistency in their offensive game in the remainder
of the first half. Several good drives culminating in turnovers , 2 fumbles and 2 interceptions as they tried to stamp their authority on the game. Whilst the offense were struggling, the
Arrows defense was in top form regularly forcing the Admirals offense to punt without making any real offensive gains.
The second half saw the Arrows change tack and go to a wishbone offense. The Admirals defense had difficulty in
stopping this and a 80 yard drove culminated in Perkins going in for his second score of the game which coupled with a successful 2 point PAT gave the Arrows a commanding 14-0 lead. The
Arrows almost extended their immediately when they recovered the ensuing kick off deep in the Admirals half. This however the Plymouth stood strong and stopped the Arrows defense to keep the
score at 14-0 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter again saw the Arrows controlling the game. Plymouth had a couple of good drives without
seriously threatening to score. Arrows QB Dave Stanton then went to the air finding Steve Bell for a 20 yard gain to leave the ball on the home sides 20 yard line and then immediately hooking
up with Bell again for another 20 yard reception in the end zone and a 20-0 lead.
