The Redditch Arrows and South Wales Warriors battled all Sunday afternoon only to see honours shared
in this top of the conference clash. Both teams came into the game having won their opening fixtures and it became apparent very early on that neither team was going to have an easy
afternoon if they were to snatch the victory.
The first half was a defensive battle, both teams putting together a couple of long offensive drives. The Arrows
best effort when they came up short on the Warriors 3 yard line and a 10 yard Field Goal just sailed wide. The Warriors who gradually took control in the second quarter put together their
best drive late on the half. With less than a minutes left they had first and goal on the Arrows 3 yard line. The Arrows defense however raised to the occasion and forced a fumble to prevent
the visitors going in with a half time lead. The Arrows themselves then nearly snatched the lead when Steve Bell on just failed to connect on a long pass from Dave Stanton as the half ended.
The second half started in explosive fashion when on the second play the Warriors opened the scoring on a 55 yard
option play for a 6-0 lead. The Arrows however responded to this and Arrows QB Dave Stanton hooked up with Stuart McNeil for a 13 yard pass to level the scores at 6-6.
The fourth quarter saw both teams put together drives to put them into good field position to win the game. The
Arrows after punting the ball again forced a Warriors fumble and this left them on the 20 yard line with 2 minutes to go. Unfortunately for the Arrows, the Warriors defense themselves
forced a turnover 2 plays later to end any hopes that the home team had of gaining the win.
