The Redditch Arrows continued their winning run with a hard fought 34-12 win against a spirited and improved
Manchester Titans side. This win sees the Arrows keep their perfect record at 8-0 and the top of the table position.
The first half saw the arrows struggle to make any real progress on offense despite consistently being given
great field position by the Arrows defense. A Karl Watkins interception returned for 50 yards finally saw the Arrows hit the end-zone when Ian Lakin went in from 5 yards on a run.
The Arrows could not however capitalise on this advantage and a series of costly offensive penalties caused them
all to often to be faced with 3 and long situations and having to turn the ball over.
The second half saw the Arrows regroup and step up a gear. Strong running from Dave Mills made 33 yards in 4
plays and set up the arrows with a 1st and goal on the Titans 1 yard line. Toby (Moose) Rhodes then powered in to increase the lead to 14.
It was however Manchester who shocked the Arrows by taking up the initiative. They responded cutting the
Arrows lead to 14-6 on a 35 yard pass and then on their next possession with a 15 yard pass to 14-12.
This jolted the arrows into showing their mettle and by sticking to their running game saw them increase their
lead to 21-12 on Ian Lakins 9 yard run.
With the Manchester defense tiring the arrows continued their ground assault and finally put the game away in the
fourth quarter when Mills went in from 9 yards and Lakin scored in the last two minutes his third of the day on a 15yard run to finish the scoring.
