The Redditch Arrows kept on course for the play-offs with an
emphatic 48-0 win at bottom of the table Staffordshire Surge. The Arrows had already beaten the Surge 60-0 earlier in the season and were in no mood for any upset.
The Arrows opened the game by putting together a 55 yard 8 minute
drive culminating in Mark Collett finding the end-zone on a 5 yard run. On the Surge's first possession they were forced to go 3 and out and a bad punt left the ball on their own 35 yard
line. The Arrows immediately made them pay for this mistake when Richard Wilde connected up with Jamie Kilby for a 35 yard completion and an early but significant 14-0 lead for the Arrows.
Following this again the Arrows defense stopped the Surge and Wilde got his second touchdown completion of the day, this time to Neil Solomon on a 10 yard pass and a first quarter 21-0 lead.
The game was to all purposes now over, the Arrows extended their
lead in the second qtr to 28 points when Mike Sinyangwe put together a 45 yard run followed by a 35 yard run. The Surge were however unfortunate when on the stroke of halt time a long
pass was caught in the end-zone only to see the score written off due to an offensive pass interference call.
The second half saw the Arrows experimenting with some different
offensive formation. The Surge however were still unable to stop the Arrows and further scores from Mark Collett from 11 yards and 4 yards plus a Richard Wilde 1 yard QB sneak saw the Arrows
run out comfortable winners at 48-0.
On Offense Mark Collett scored 3 touchdowns whilst on Defense Noel Fischer posted 3 sacks.
