The start of the 1987 season saw the arrival of two Canadians Chris Rogers and Brad Corbin. Their
arrival and the influx of several other experienced players led to the hope of an improvement in the teams performances and results, however most people involved within the club were taken by surprise by
the size of this improvement The season itself was one continuos story of success with the exception of the home game against Tamworth with 9 games won and 405pts scored and the Arrows first ever
championship. The highlights of the season were the 68-0 and 50-0 victories against Rugby and the win at Tamworth and revenge for the only defeat suffered in the regular season. In the playoffs
the Arrows disposed of Charnwood only to come up against a very strong St Helens side and on a very waterlogged pitch went down 27-12. The conditions were so bad that had the game not been a
play-off then the referees would have called it off and only agreed to it being played as it would have been impossible to re-arrange it. The season ended with a game for the County Bowl against
Hereford which again saw the Arrows successful with a fine 18-0 win.
