The Arrows went into 2003 placed in the South Western Conference of Division 2. This conference had in it 3 teams who had played Division 1 ball the
previous season plus 2 others who had made Division 2 playoffs and was nicknamed the 'Conference of Death'.
The schedule saw the Arrows open the season with 3 road trips. The first of these was against pre-season favourites Bristol Aztecs who, boosted by the
signing of ex-NFL Europe runningback Kofi Campbell , proved far too strong in the first half opening up a commanding 26-12 lead. The Arrows however fought back well in the second half and were a little
unlucky to end up defeated. The next game was against Oxford. A disastorous first half performance saw Oxford with a commanding half time lead which the Arrows could do little to overcome in the
second half.
Week 3 finally saw the Arrows get some success with a hard fought win at South Wales. This improvement in form however was short lived when in its
opening hame game against Southern the Arrows gave up 22 points on fumbles and interceptions and lost 15-28.
The Arrows kept themselves in with a chance of post season football with a 32-13 win against Plymouth, but again inconsistency saw them go down 33-14
to Bristol with Bristol getting 2 scores in 2 plays at the start of the game.
The Arrows then faced the difficult job of facing Southern away. Completely against form and with a weakened squad the Arrows totally dominated the
game and ran out comfortable 18-0 winners. The score could have been even more impressive as they ended both halfs inside the Sundevils 5 yard line.
In the return against Oxford the Arrows at one time led 18-7 only to see a spirited Oxford fightback pip them 20-18 in the last minute.
With the season basically over the Arrows won their second game against the Admirals before ending up the season being well beaten by South Wales.
Overall 2003 was a disappointing season with the team playing with far too much inconsistency to seriously challenge. On a positive note the season did
see the emergence of several promising new rookies and the club did continue with its graual process started in 2003
