ARROWS SEE RED

For the 2006 season the Arrows organisation are teaming up with the National Blood Service to support them as their nominated charity. The Arrows organisation recognise that there is an opportunity to publicise a worthwhile cause, due to the nature i.e. glamour and notoriety of the sport that we participate in. Our colour scheme at the Arrows lends itself perfectly to that of the National Blood Service, we are sure that both organisation will gain benefit from the exposure that a partnership will bring for example an increase in awareness and donators.

Three Arrows players rolled up their sleeves to give blood in support of National Blood Service. Toby Rhodes, Alan Harris and Adam Talbot are pictured giving blood at their local session in St Lukes Memorial Hall, Headless Cross, Redditch.

Toby Rhodes, Treasurer and player for Redditch Arrows says: "We thought we'd practise what we preach and give a pint of blood, to show that anyone can do it. Even though we're all busy working, training and playing, we want to show people that you can still make time to help save lives."

Lyndsay Stewart, Communications Officer in West Midlands and spokesperson for the National Blood Service says: "It's great to have the support of Redditch Arrows as they can get our message across to so many players and supporters. They play teams throughout the country from Plymouth to Merseyside so by carrying our message with them, hopefully a few more people will give blood as a result."

In addition to actively giving blood the Arrows have already promoted the National Blood service on BBC Hereford & Worcester, through the local press the Redditch Advertiser and Standard as well as carrying a link on our website. The following opportunities have also been identified by both parties;

  • Further media exposure through press releases on websites BAFL and  through the National Blood Service publication.
  • Display banners and posters at home matches.
  • Display banners and posters on away transport, this has been confirmed by the Arrows nominated transport company Hardings Coaches.
  • The National Blood Service will specially commission sets of stickers one to be placed on the rear of the Arrows helmet, and others to be distributed to fans at matches.
  • Place logo on backdrop for player pictures. (i.e. as per advertisement boards seen in the background during post game interviews).
  • New water bottles, water carrier and apparel for the waterboy will be used to publicise National Blood Service on all games. "Slogan..Blood is  thicker than Water"

More details about the important that the National Blood Service do can be found at their web site www.blood.co.uk
