End of Season Awards
Each year at the end of the season the Coaches, Management and Players of the
Arrows, select players and members that have made outstanding contributions to the club throughout the year. These people are honoured during the End of Season Awards Ceremony, where awards are given out
to those people who have contributed outstandingly on and off the field.
Rookie of the Year
Nominated by the Head coach with contributions from the coaching staff. Each
year the Arrows heavily recruit new players, offering the opportunity to participate in our unique sport to other members of the community. We actively seek out new talent using the National Development
Programme to assess, future players. The winner of this award is nominate collectively by the Coaches, however they have to be a true "Rookie" i.e. no previous playing experience at Junior, Senior of
College level.
Special Teams
Nominated by the Head coach with contributions from the coaching staff. Special
teams are an integral part of playing the sport of American Football, both kicking and receiving the football. The award goes to the player who has made the greatest impact on the field of play be it for
receiving, kicking, tackling or blocking. It is also another opportunity for some of the less experienced players to be recognised.
Offensive M.V.P (Most Valuable Player)
This winner of this award is nominated by the Offensive Co-ordinator with
contributions from his coaching staff. The award goes to the player which they feel has made the greatest impact throughout the year for the Offensive part of the team.
Defensive M.V.P (Most Valuable Player)
This winner of this award is nominated by the Defensive Co-ordinator with
contributions from his coaching staff. The award goes to the player which they feel has made the greatest impact throughout the year for the Defensive part of the team.
Lineman of the Year
Nominated by the Head coach following consultation with the Offensive &
Defensive Co-ordinators. It is often the way that the Offensive or Defensive M.V.P is awarded to a player that comes from a specialised position i.e. Quarterback, at the Arrows we recognise the
importance of those team members who play in the trenches. The Lineman of the Year award shows the coaches appreciation for the player that has had the greatest impact on either side of the line.
Club Person of the Year
Nominated by the Management team, this award goes to any member of the Arrows
organisation who have put in that extra special effort into helping the Arrows develop.
Players Player
This is the most prestigious award, nominated through a ballot by all the
members of the Arrows organisation. The person receiving this award traditionally will have shown one or more of the following; exceptional playing skills during the season, a good mentality to both
playing and training, helps developed the club, encourages less experienced players, leadership skills, etc.
In addition to the above awards the Arrows Management may decide to honour
members, people or institutions that have helped the organisation throughout he previous season. In this case special awards will be created and presented during the ceremony.
